If you are fascinated by the great public works of the Roman past, or the refinement of noble palaces, then the tour of the squares, palaces and fountains of Rome is the right one for you.
We will start from the very famous Piazza di Spagna with its scenic staircase, and we will visit the most important monuments of modern Rome, with a short 3-hour tour. We will pass through the spectacular Trevi Fountain to then skirt the slopes of Quirinale, one of the seven hills of Rome and seat of the President of the Italian Republic.
We will pass along Via del Corso and Piazza Venezia, where we can admire the monumentality of the Vittoriano, a national monument as well as a memorial symbol to the Unknown Soldier. From this splendid setting we will move to the Pantheon, the best preserved Roman temple of the ancient age, still used today as a Christian church with the name of Santa Maria degli Angeli.
From the Pantheon we will move towards Piazza Navona, one of the most famous squares in Rome, where we will be able to talk about the two great artists of the Baroque period: Bernini and Borromini, and explore their disagreements and rivalries though a series of anecdotes about the two great artists and enemies.
The tour can be extended to 6 hours and then reach more monuments and topics, such as the “talking statue” of Rome, the statue to Pasquino, the Ara Pacis and the Mausoleum of Augustus, up to one of the largest squares in Rome, Piazza del Popolo, where we conclude the tour while enjoying the panorama of the Eternal City from the Pincio Terrace.
